This is a story of a almost rectangularish hole of about 2 feet by 15 feet and not more than half a foot deep. Yes, not a really deep hole but yet something which is commonly found on many of our Malaysian roads especially after a heavy downfall.
You see, we do not regulate our heavy vehicles very well. They are free to go anywhere. An 18 wheeler can go straight to your front door and deliver you your pre-ordered Pizza Hut. Okay maybe not that extent but yet still big trucks can go to neighbourhood roads.
Okay so my story is not about neighbourhood roads but a trunk road which is used by many tens of thousands of people on a daily basis to get to work, look for girlfriend or buy panadol. Politicians have known that this is a bottleneck stretch. But yet promises after promises of building a second bridge beside it has been strongly rumoured since day one of the opening of the Permas Bridge.
Most JB people who travel from the east will have to travel along Permas bridge to get to the city. And it was during one of the heavier rain in the end of november that resulted in one of the heavy vehicle damaging the road and created that smallish not that deep pothole. But yet because it is still a bloody hole, JB people being kiasu drives VERY SLOWLY when they approach that hole even though their bloody suspensions could handle the hole.
So with most JB people, we had to endure 3 weeks of painful hour long jams before we managed to cross the bridge. And it took that long for someone who is smart enough in MBJB to wake up and realised that he had been late for work for the last 3 weeks. So much so until he cannot tahan and then decided to do something about it.
Even the solution was something to be admired about. It was done during PEAK HOUR TRAFFIC on a weekday causing an even longer jam with a few policemen screaming here and there to ask us to move faster. Honestly, if someone had better cerebral cortex, they would have at least do it at night where the traffic is definitely a lot milder.
