fark, let me tell you, I have been cracking my head over the last 48 hours to write a supposedly confidential proposal to a government agency about some joint venture thingy. I had asked if English was allowed but my kaki told me better to use BM. Now, this document cannot be written in English and then be translated to Malay because errr.. it is confidential. Yes we are that KIASU and don’t want people to KNOW.
But fact is, I have not written anything official in Bahasa since some 20 years or so ago. That was when I had to compose some surat rasmi on my karangan thingy in SRP. Yes, then it was easy as I breezed through the exams. But now, even simple words like CURRENTLY, i would not be able to translate as easily.
Funny how I feel that all of us parties understand and knows English perfectly fine, but why the need for Bahasa? I supposed in some ways, English is also a language that the government is trying to populate among us given that even maths and sciences are now taught in English. Wouldn’t it be ok if we use english even for official businesses?
Anyways, I am up to the conclusion part of the document which means I got some free time to blog. sigh.. I hope I have a good weekend.
