Datuk Philip Ling Lee Kang, 58 died on new year’s day recently. now here’s a case of a very rich man with three wives who aren’t registered legally as his wives. One is a singaporean, one is a taiwanese and last a shanghainese. You cannot get more united nation than this. Apparently the shanghainese wife might not know of his death just yet but there is already a tussle for his body by the first and second wives.
when asked to produce marriage certificate by the authorities, none of the two could. It was until the first wife’s daughter had to go home and retrieve her birth certificate which showed Datuk Ling as her father that the first wife and daughter could bring him back. With much intervention from an uncle (brother of the deceased), the two wives agreed that the first wife could bring the body back but the body will be dressed by the second wife. Now here’s the twist, the first and second wives though did not specify if they knew each other, seems like knew each other’s existence though might not have met. The children of either wives did not know about the double life their father have had. the shanghainese wife’s detail is not yet known.
so here’s the dilemma. Who actually gets the fortune? in the eyes of law it is indeed a hard choice. there is no such precedent. there is no clauses which determines the weight of each woman and their respective children. hiyah.. i really don’t know, no eyes see.
